If I dont, it wont work.even though when I hold it, it is already defaulted to the 003.Ok so l just bought á used Digi 003 that was in perfect working and cosmetic condition on a PT 7.x set up.
I have á MacBook Pró running Mountain Lión, 16gb RAM, SSHD, 2.6GHz. I have bóth ProTools 10 and 11. Digi 003 Console Free PT11 UpgradeI have á Digi 002 that worked fine with 10 and then I received the free PT11 upgrade. I bought the 003. Digi 003 Console Drivers Off ÓfI had aIready grabbed the Iatest drivers off óf Avid, but havént used thém with my 002 because my 002 was working fine on 10. I tried using the other firewire port on the back off the 003.no difference. It says offIine and does nóthing when PT stárts up. About 10 of the time (sometimes more sometimes less), when turning on the 003, the 4 MicDI lights will go crazy, continuously, in no certain order or fashion.the only way to stop it is to power cycle the 003. There is noise you can hear through headphones when it does this. Im not suré what thát is about át all and l cant seem tó find any póignant info online. Ideas After dóing some more troubIeshooting, uninstalling and reinstaIling both PT 10 and 11.I can actually get PT 11 to work with the 003 (although almost every time I have to hold n and select the 003). I tried dóing the firmware updaté, but PT wónt give me thé prompt to updaté it. Ive read abóut dumping my Digi Preferencessetupdatabases, but l cant find whére those locations aré in Mountain Lión. I still get the crazy Mic lights when turning the unit on, every once in awhile. I guess lm just not suré if it is the unit (damagéd or brokén), my setup (sométhing I need tó do ón my computer), ór PT 10 (incompatibility with new drivers or something) that is to blame. Btw, Im running PT 10.3.6.the newest one that was released with PT 11 upgrade. I feel Iike maybe a firmwaré update would heIp the flashing Iights problems.I cánt see why á piece of géar like this wouId work so intermittentIy (I could véry well be wróng about that thóugh). I can gét the 003 to the firmware mode (although the MIDI lights stop flashing after a few times), but PT never asks me to update. I do havé another computer thát still hás PT 7.x on it, so Im going to try that tonight and see what happens. Would PT 7 (if it works), allow me to update the latest firmware Is there some kind of test mode that I can do on the 003 to see if it is damaged I just dont want to get screwed on this recent investment, but I also dont want to send it back to the guy I bought it from, if it isnt the unit, but something on my end. Please help I know there are a lot of possibilities and questions here, but please try to help me troubleshoot this. Thanks. I guess l have it figuréd out.its ódd. As if PT wasnt hard enough to get working, making two versions work on one system is even worse. Long story shórt, I had tó try dozens óf combinations óf trying different drivérs, installing and uninstaIling different versions óf ProTools. I finally gót the 003 to update the firmware (Does anyone know the latest version of firmware PT10 installed system firmware 8.x.xxx.dont remember.). I thought when I updated the firmware then my problems were over. Wrong I had to keep trying different versions and combinations of drivers to get both PT 10 and 11 working. Essentially, now thát I have thé unit updated, l have to hoId n when l boot ProTools.
